Kelly Nelson, MU research agronomist, demonstrated application equipment for a new study examining the how deep lime and gypsum placements can raise the pH in the soil profile for increased nutrient uptake. Continuous no-till or minimally tilled fields often have ideal pH in the top layer of soil, but are acidic deeper in the soil profile. This research will evaluate deep placement of lime and gypsum for increased nutrient uptake and root development.
