Sorghum

From a production standpoint, sorghum is an efficient feedstock for ethanol production. Sweet sorghum is similar to grain sorghum with a sugar-rich stalk comparable to sugarcane. It has wide adaptability and grows rapidly. In recent years, there is an increased interest in the utilization of sweet sorghum for ethanol production. Its growing period and water requirement are four times lower than that of sugarcane. The sugar from sweet sorghum is easily converted into ethanol. It is also suitable for mechanized crop production.
