switchgrass[1]

Switch-grass can tolerate a variety of soil types, climates, flooding and can grow in much of North America. It was selected in 1991 by the U.S. Department of Energy as one of the best potential energy crops. While switch-grass has been promoted as the answer to expensive, imported fuel, much work remains. The work will require many years of research and development. Photo courtesy the University of Oklahoma.
