Cottonwoods flourish from Kansas to the Coastal Plains of North Carolina and up and down the west coast. They are already used a renewable resource by the paper and lumber industries. Some species in ideal conditions can grow nine feet in one year, and will grow again after being harvested. Photo courtesy the University of Florida.
